Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
--William Ernest Henley 1875

In this Techie, Gadget Man Age we should dare not allow ourselves to be lured into deep intellectual, moral and spiritual slumber; but to think creatively, independently, and profoundly. For awareness, vigilance and the logic of what is right or wrong can neither be entrusted to those that profit hugely from professional arrogance, extraordinary power and greed owning, controlling, monopolising and running our global data networks, institutions and our universal repository of knowledge and skill— even our daily lives; nor their politicians and hordes of their institutional lobby and ‘trumpet' men. Nor should we dare not be fixated blind by the mind-numbing data that their monopoly-programmed machines churn. Finally, nor should humans fear or be ensnared by the creepy ones who harbour ’they-are-god’ or have the anointed hand-of-god delusions. For in this cut-throat heartless mr. moneybags world, there is always danger and temptation. Hence, we should avoid getting carried away by the bigoted, pompous ‘Prestigious' Mob or the Data Goliaths' Big Brother Trumpet Orchestra…
Let us be inspired, warned and warmed by Lord Byron’s 'Don Juan’ :
"Great Galileo was debarred the sun, Because he fixed it, and to stop his talking How earth could round the solar orbit run, Found his own legs embargoed from mere walking. The man was well nigh dead, ere men begun To think his skull had not some need of caulking, But now it seems he's right, his notion just, No doubt a consolation to his dust. Pythagoras, Locke, Socrates—but pages Might be filled up, as vainly as before, With the sad usage of all sorts of sages, Who in his lifetime each was deemed a bore. The loftiest minds outrun their tardy ages; This they must bear with and perhaps much more. The wise man's sure when he no more can share it, he Will have a firm post-obit* on posterity.” —jreyes

When one is looking after other people’s needs and works hard for what is right; work with all your might…-- jr

The measure of a true, honourable human being is the consistent commitment to care and to help with or uphold the needs (and rights) of others. It is not the pursuit of cowardly hypocritical, sanitised, over-rated ‘professional' job titles; blinding pencil pushing politico-bureaucratic (‘tick box’) health targets; or ivory-tower arrogance, extravagance and self-centered attention which are all heavily lusted by scheming playground bullies, psychopaths and scumbags.— jr
